Challenge Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Suggested: yoga mat, towel, yoga blocks, and water with bare feet

Power vinyasa yoga has a consistent pace and builds the heart rate up. It is like yoga cardio. It incorporates flexibility but is a practice in which you are in almost constant transitional movement which is what makes it similar to cardio. You have the opportunity to push yourself or lay off, you decide what gear you practice in. This being said it is still accessible for all ages and body types. It is great for your cardiovascular system, your heart, lungs, digestive system and building strength. It is meant to energize you leaving you feeling ready to take on the week!

Some of the most common postures are upward and downward facing dog, mountain pose, warrior one, warrior two, reverse warrior, extended side angle, wide leg forward fold, yogi bicycles and many others. If none of this sounds familiar not to worry, it will after just a few classes. Through the teaching formula you will be able to align your body into each posture allowing you to feel confident in your practice. It may take a little time but with patience and commitment you will be feeling like a Yogi in no time.

Wednesday Connect- Restorative Yoga

Challenge Rating: ❤️

Suggested: yoga mat, blankets, pillows, yoga blocks and water with bare feet

Restorative yoga is a space for the body to rest and rejuvenate. We spend our lives moving so quickly from one place to another, from one task to another, our minds and senses are constantly bombarded with stimuli. Restorative yoga is your opportunity to disconnect from the outer world and get connected with your inner world. It gives the body and mind time to relax, heal and process. We use props to support the body into rest and relaxation. Examples of props are blankets, pillows, and blocks. We want comfort for the body.

Some of the most common restorative postures are legs up the wall, supported butterfly, supported fish and supported bridge. This class is accessible and beneficial to all yogi’s. Restorative yoga is a great complimentary practice to any other form of exercise.

Friday Empower - Yin Yoga

Challenge Rating: ❤️❤️

Suggested: yoga mat, towel, yoga blocks and water with bare feet

Yin yoga focuses on your connective tissues, like your bones, joints, fascia and ligaments. This practice is slower with fewer postures and longer holds giving you opportunity bring your attention and focus internally in your mind and physical sensations within the body. Due to the longer holds of postures, yin yoga allows you to lengthen and stretch the rarely-activated tissues while presenting the opportunity to breathe through discomfort and become present to your mind. Through stretching and deepening into postures we are opening up blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely in the body.

Some of the common yin yoga postures are dragon pose, butterfly pose, fish pose, and supine twist. These are postures that are held allowing for the deep activation of the body.

No matter your skill level or knowledge of yoga these classes can be adapted to you. Give yourself the gift and opportunity to try something new or return to your mat. One thing I love about yoga is that no matter how long I’ve been off my mat, my practice welcomes me home warmly.
